BORDER CARS RETURNS AS GALLOWAY COUNTRY FAIR SPONSOR
28th May, 2015
Border Cars has been unveiled as the headline sponsor for the Galloway Country Fair for the third year running, helping make this year’s Fair the biggest and best to date.
The annual event, taking place on 22nd and 23rd August at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, has secured the new and used car dealership – which operates throughout Dumfries & Galloway, Cumbria and Ayrshire – as lead sponsor.
This year’s Galloway Country Fair is expected to attract thousands of people from across the country, showcasing the best country sports, produce and retail that Scotland has to offer.
The largest and most renowned country Fair in southern Scotland brings together thousands of visitors with hundreds of businesses, demonstrations and activities each year, offering a true celebration of rural life.
Anna Fergusson, Visitor Services Manager at Drumlanrig, said: “Last year we welcomed around 18,000 visitors to the Estate for the Fair and we are keen to build on that this year and beyond, so I am delighted to welcome Border Cars on board with us for the third time.
“Border Cars is a well-known, successful local business so to have its support as headline sponsor yet again is great news and very encouraging.”
David Brown, General Manager for Border Cars, added: “After the success of last year’s event and sponsorship, we are proud to return as headline sponsor for 2015.
“Border Cars has served the communities of Dumfries & Galloway and beyond for more than 35 years so we are thrilled to support the Galloway Country Fair – a flagship rural event for Scotland.
“We’re sure to see customers old and new over the course of the two days and look forward to enjoying the celebrations with them.”
Border Cars will have a large stand at the Galloway Country Fair, showcasing some of its best deals across the UK’s favourite car brands.
Also on offer this year, in celebration of the Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015, the Food Marquee promises to be bigger and better than ever, with demonstrations from Cook School Scotland added to the usual wealth of tasty food and produce available to try and buy.
A brand new, free of charge children’s entertainment zone has been added to this year’s Fair, ensuring a fun-filled weekend for kids.
Visitors can enjoy gifts or homeware in the huge Craft Marquee and purchase a variety of goods in the shopping aisles from premium country clothing and sporting supplies to jewellery, pet products, artwork, toys, luxury knitwear and much more.
As well as regular attractions such as traditional Highland games, visitors will have the chance to see The Sheep Show, displays from 7Stanes and, especially for dog lovers, demonstrations by David Lisett, one of the UK’s most renowned dog trainers.
The popular Fishing Village will make a return, allowing youngsters to learn about the sport through demonstrations and casting clinics.
Once again, visitors can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting, and a wide range of firearms, rifles, shooting accessories and fishing tackle from leading suppliers will be available in Gunmakers Row. A scurry and test from the Galloway Gundogs will also take place.
There are still opportunities for traders and sponsors to get involved. Trade packs are available from the Galloway Country Fair website.
The annual fair takes place on Saturday and Sunday, 22nd and 23rd August, from 9am-6pm. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults, £5 for ages 5-16, £10 for concessions and £30 for a family pass. Under-fives go free. A special three night camping offer is also in place for 2015 for visitors who want to stay on site and enjoy a whole weekend’s worth of entertainment.
Anyone buying tickets online will enjoy a 25 per cent discount if purchased through the website before 1st August.
