Buskers needed to ‘jingle all the way’

13th November, 2014

Local musicians are being urged to showcase their talents at this year’s Christmas Fair at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate.

The Estate is appealing for buskers to perform during the second day of the popular weekend event on December 7, providing live music for attending guests. Already signed up to offer some musical flair is Maxwelltown High School’s choir, which will be on hand to get visitors into the Christmas spirit throughout Saturday, December 6.

Once again, the Drumlanrig Stableyard will become a winter wonderland providing a charming seasonal setting to find special Christmas gifts for loved ones and sample some delicious festive fayre.

The event will feature a range of craft stands, with a host of retailers offering a selection of fine food and drink for visitors to try and buy. Youngsters can also pay a visit to Father Christmas in his enchanting grotto.

Claire Oram, Castle Manager, said: “Festive magic is set to descend upon Drumlanrig Castle once again in just a few short weeks. “We want to see lots of budding and aspiring Dumfriesshire musicians come forward to be part of the fun and help contribute to the wonderful atmosphere we have at the Fair each year. “An array of handmade, unique gifts and luxury produce will be on offer – all within the gorgeous setting of our Stableyard. It really promises to be a special weekend for all the family.”

Entry to the Christmas Fair – which will take place on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 from 11am-5pm – is priced at £1 for adults. Children under the age of 14 go free.
