29th May, 2017
Organisers of this year’s upcoming Galloway Country Fair (19 and 20 August) have confirmed West Sound Cash for Kids as its official charity partner for 2017.
The charity supports children up to the age of 16 across Dumfries and Galloway who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect.
As part of the partnership a host of activities, musical entertainment and competitions, led by the West Sound presenting team, will take place across the weekend which is hosted each year at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate.
Cash for Kids mascot, Courage the Cat, will also be touring the showground, giving away balloons.
Volunteers from the charity will sell show programmes, with 20 per cent of all the takings from these, going directly to the charity.
Anna Fergusson, visitor services manager for Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, said: “We are delighted to team up with West Sound Cash for Kids. Not only will the charity be bringing some fantastic activities and competitions to our action-packed Fair, but it’s a great opportunity to support a vital local cause.
“The money raised during Galloway Country Fair will be used to support local children in our area. We’d like to encourage all our visitors this year to dig deep for Cash for Kids.”
Debbie Fraser, Manager for West Sound Cash for Kids added: “The Galloway Country Fair is a superb family event and one of the most prominent annual events in the region so we are very pleased to be recognised as the official partner for 2017.
“Our staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to raise awareness of the work we do in the area and we have lots of fun and games planned as well as an appearance from a West Sound presenter.
“We look forward to meeting and chatting with visitors during the big weekend.”
In addition, Cash for Kids will take a stand at the event with organisers of the Galloway Country Fair also delighted to announce that it will be giving away free exhibition space at this year’s event to the Scottish Wildlife Trust, Alzheimer Scotland, British Divers Marine Life Rescue and Help for Heroes.
