Drumlanrig lays on egg-stra special weekend of family fun

10th March, 2013

Families looking for fun Easter activities will be spoiled for choice if they visit Drumlanrig Castle on March 30th and 31st.

Guest of honour, the Easter Bunny, will welcome adults and children alike to the Estate for an action-packed weekend.

From 11am to 5pm each day the stableyard and gardens will be a hub of exciting activities.

An Easter craft station will allow budding ‘egg-gineers’ to decorate their eggs in style, and their creations will be entered into the ‘Fantastic Flying Egg Finale’. Participants can bring along their decorated flight-ready egg or bring a hard-boiled egg to decorate on-site, and prizes will be awarded for Most Egg-squisitely Dressed Egg as well as the Most Egg-streme Flight.

An egg hunt will also take place in the Castle’s impressive grounds and Jason the Juggling Jester will be on hand to provide entertainment along the way.

On Saturday there will be an egg-stra special treat with a merry-go-round in the grounds which is expected to be a big hit.

Claire Oram, Castle Manager, said: “We are getting geared up for a really exciting weekend of Easter fun so if you’re looking for an exciting and eventful day out for the family, look no further!  Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny who will be giving out chocolate goodies throughout the day.”

The Rangers will also be on hand to lead nature tours around the Estate to help budding naturalists spot the first signs of spring.

Entrance fees are £6 for adults (£4.50 concession / 60+), and £3.50 for children aged 5-16, with no charge for under-5s.  Family tickets (up to 2 adults and 3 children) cost £16.
