Farmers’ Markets launch at Drumlanrig
6th March, 2014
Foodies across Dumfriesshire are in for a treat as Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate gets set to host their first Farmers’ Market of the year.
Stallholders from across the region will offer a varied mix of delicious produce including fresh fish, meat and pies to breads, cakes and pastries, honey, jams and pickles, cider and much more, with lots of samples available so visitors can try before they buy.
There will also be a prize draw on offer with the chance of winning a hamper of goodies supplied by the producers on the day.
Jo Jones, Events Manager at Drumlanrig, said: “Farmers’ Markets at Drumlanrig are always very popular so I’m pleased we have several planned for the year ahead.
“Eating local food is better for the environment, tastes great and supports local economy. Here at Drumlanrig, we’re proud to provide fresh produce for visitors to our Farmers’ Markets, which has only taken the minimum number of steps from farm, sea or field to table.”
A further four Farmers’ Markets will be held throughout the year on 18 May, 20 July, 21 September and as part of the Easter Festival on April 20.
There will be plenty of free parking on the day plus a delicious BBQ and hog roast provided by A Taste of Galloway.
Entry to the Farmers’ Market is free.
From April 1, the Drumlanrig Gardens and Parkland will open for the new 2014 season. Entry charges for the Gardens and Grounds are £6 for adults, £3.50 for children aged five to 16 and £16 for a family pass which includes two adults plus three children. Children under five go free.
