Four-legged TV stars set to wow crowds at this year’s Galloway Country Fair

An action-packed entertainment programme has been announced for Galloway Country Fair 2017 (19 and 20 August) which will see stunt horses who have featured in a host of TV dramas headline the arena.

The Atkinson Action Horses have appeared in a number of popular programmes including Poldark, Peaky Blinders and Victoria.

The horses are trained in a variety of disciplines including Spanish high school, trick and stunt riding and jousting and are set to put on quite a show for visitors over the weekend.

The fun-packed line-up also includes the ever-popular Sheep Show, the Dog and Duck Show, Owl Magic, Terrier Racing and the return of Grant Bazin, The Horse Whisperer.

Anna Fergusson, Visitor Services Manager at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, said: “Our fantastic acts are sure to excite and amaze crowds at this year’s Fair making it an event in the calendar that is not to be missed.

“We are very excited to welcome Atkinson Action Horses as they make their Galloway Country Fair debut and can’t wait to see what phenomenal tricks they will perform in the arena.

“Galloway Country Fair firm favourites will also be returning, including the Buccleuch Bake Off and the Buccleuch Hounds.”

The popular countryside family event takes place at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate.

In addition to entertainment in the arena, visitors can take a spin around a brand new 4×4 route sponsored by Border Cars as well as enjoying the scurry provided by Galloway Gundogs, casting clinics and demonstrations in the Fishing area, clay shooting, plus hundreds of stalls showcasing the best food and drink, homeware, country sports, fashion, produce and retail that Scotland has to offer.

The Fair’s 2017 charity partner, Cash for Kids, will also be on hand with a host of activities, musical entertainment and competitions, led by the West Sound presenting team.

Galloway Country Fair’s camping offering has been extended this year to give visitors the option to stay in Drumlanrig Estate’s beautiful grounds for one night on either the Friday or Saturday, in addition to full weekend camping passes.

Galloway Country Fair takes place on Saturday 19 August from 10am to 6pm and Sunday 20 August from 10am to 5pm.Tickets are priced at £13 for adults, £5 for children aged under 16 years, £10 for concessions and £30 for a family pass (two adults and two children). Under-fives go free.
