"The best stately home we’ve visited by a long way. Our guide Moira was brilliant- knew everything about the house and all its fabulous contents, delivered with humour and authority. Awesome history, amazing collection of artwork and furniture. Really nice cafe, good menu and decent value. Added bonus of bikes to hire from Rik, the coolest bike shop person ever. Good bike trails with superb views."

"Beautiful gardens and grounds kept us well occupied for an afternoon. The zoned areas are well explained on the visitor's map and are easy to navigate. The bluebell wood was simply stunning. The castle itself is impressive and a wonderful feature and backdrop to the many photos we took.."

Don’t Miss…
Our new walk! A new addition to our way-marked walks emerging in the wake of 2021 Storm Arwen. Arwen’s Trail is a strenuous uphill hike that peaks at Mount Malloch viewpoint with views over the Estate and Castle. On the climb and descent, enjoy historic Victorian footpaths, some wonderful trees including a Giant Sequoia and the first Douglas firs in Scotland. The walk also passes Andy Goldsworthy’s ‘Leaping Arches’.
