Christmas Cheer Returns to Drumlanrig Castle

The fair welcomed over 40 craft, food, and drink stalls in the heated marquee in front of the Castle, with a wide variety of goods on offer for those carrying out their Christmas shopping.  The stalls had a distinctively local feel with crafters, artists and producers selling a range of items from artwork, cosmetics and homeware to dog leads, local spirits and venison.

Little ones also had the magical opportunity to meet Santa. Children were welcomed into the Castle by a cheery elf and made their way into the Stewards Room with a roaring fire and large Christmas tree, before spending some time with Santa himself.

The Dumfries Town Band added some extra Christmas cheer to the occasion on the Saturday with a selection of carols and much-loved Christmas songs. Visitors who attended on the Saturday also had the opportunity to explore the vast Castle Gardens and little ones could burn of some energy in the Adventure Playground.

Anna Fergusson, Estate Director commented “We welcomed thousands of people over the two days of the Christmas Fair. It was great to see so many people delighted at the return of the event, and we can’t thank them enough for supporting it. The event has certainly got us in the Christmas spirit, and we hope all the families that joined us have a magical festive season.”
