A Jam-Packed Weekend
The weekend of August 12th-13th saw thousands of visitors flock to Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate for the annual celebration of Galloway Country Fair.
Saturday
Despite dodging rain showers on Saturday, enthusiastic crowds turned up with wellies and umbrellas for a day of entertainment, shopping and family-fun.
The Buccleuch and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band got the event to a great start with an uplifting performance in the Main Ring. Throughout the day, visitors shopped till they dropped in the bustling Craft & Food Tent. Some visitors turned their hand to Clay Pigeon Shooting and were entertained by dancing farm animals in The Sheep Show.
As the evening drew in, Karen Dunbar entertained visitors and camping guests to a live DJ set from the back of Defender Jam‘s own ‘Compact Disco Defender‘. Live music from local band, By Proxy saw out the night.
Sunday
As Sunday commenced, the clouds started to clear and the sun began to shine. More visitors entered the show grounds for a day of cheering on The Lamb National, learning new culinary skills from the Demo Kitchen and entering their four-legged-friends in The Dog Show.
As the Fair came to a close on Sunday evening, visitors left entertained and traders craved a well earned rest after a busy weekend.

Main Ring Entertainment
Visitors were amused all day long as various acts entertained and stunned the crowds surrounding the Lloyd Main Ring. A family favourite included The Lamb National seeing the likes of Mint Sauce and Ed Shearing race the kids (and adults) around the ring. Equine Acrobats, Riders of the Storm, left spectators in awe as they witnessed the acrobats perform gymnastic maneuvers and tricks whilst on horse-back.
The Ring also put on engaging demonstrations such as a Casting Demo and Lee Hartis Dog Training. Flyin Ryan closed the show both days with an explosive finish as the motorcyclists performed thrilling two-wheeled stunts.

Fun For The Family
The joyous faces of young and old could be seen across the whole Fair as a variety of shows and activities left many with beaming grins.
Kids were especially lucky to enjoy lots of free activities across the weekend, from Bouncy Castles to Inflatable Assault Courses.
Many traders and entertainers also offered fun for the whole family. This included the chance to Pan for Gold and Carriage Rides pulled by Blackstone Clydesdale Horses.

Over both days visitors could enter their four-legged chums into the Scurry Competition, testing their pets inner Gun Dog abilities. Additionally, Galloway Gundog Association ran the Spaniel and Retriever Tests throughout the weekend.
Sunday saw the return of the highly-populated Dog Show, allowing visitors to enter their beloved pets into several competitions to claim their canine companion as the Top Dog.
