Jump into June at Drumlanrig

23rd May, 2014

Summer is on its way and Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate is gearing up for a month’s worth of exciting activities to celebrate.

The fun kicks off on Sunday June 1 at 1pm, when arty youngsters can join a Drumlanrig Countryside Ranger for ‘Art in the Woods’ and create a nature-inspired masterpiece using only objects from the surrounding woodlands.

The outdoor theme continues the following week with ‘The Life Cycle of a Woodland’, taking place on June 8 from 1pm-2.30pm.

Again run by the Countryside Rangers, the activity uses fun games to teach those taking part that everything within the woodland has its role to play – including Drumlanrig’s composters, which make rich soil from waste that may otherwise have gone to landfill.

The ‘Marvellous Moths’ workshop – taking place on June 15 from 1pm-2pm – will shine the light on the variety of moths that can be found at Drumlanrig. Admirers of the winged creatures can try their hand at identifying the various species of moth that call Drumlanrig their home.

Last but not least on the June calendar is a ‘Revitalise Your Senses’ afternoon on June 21, from 1pm -2.30pm. Visitors can join a Ranger-led walk to enjoy the abundance of flora the woodland has to offer at this time of year.

Normal Estate entry charges apply* for all activities. Pre-booking is essential to secure your spot, with limited spaces available.

*Entry fees for the Gardens and Grounds are £6 for adults, £3.50 for children aged five to 16 and £16 for a family pass which includes two adults plus three children. Children under five go free.
