We are looking for professional and motivated individuals to represent one of Dumfries & Galloway’s finest tourist destinations during the 2019 season.
Castle Guides (July – August)
You will be enthusiastic, with a keen interest in Scottish history and ideally a good understanding of art. You must have exceptional standards of customer service and communication skills and an ability to talk to groups of all ages. Your role will be hosting Castle tours and assisting in the day-to-day operations of this unique tourist attraction.
Kiosk Assistants (April – September)
You will provide visitors to Drumlanrig with a warm welcome and provide the information they need to enjoy their visit. You should have excellent customer service standards and a willingness to be flexible. Your role will include issuing season passes, booking visitors on house tours and dealing with visitor queries.
Tearoom Assistants (April – September)
With high standards of customer care you will provide a welcoming and professional service to visitors of the Castle tearoom and snack bar. Your role will involve preparing and serving food and drinks whilst maintaining exemplary standards of cleanliness. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience, work well in a team and have a ‘can do’ attitude.
For all of these positions weekend working is essential.

Are you looking to learn new skills or put old ones to good use? Or perhaps you are just looking for an excuse to get out of the house? Either way, becoming a Volunteer Ranger with Buccleuch Ranger Service could provide you with the opportunity you have been looking for.
Buccleuch Ranger Service are seeking Volunteer Rangers to assist with an array of projects. Access management, wildlife surveys and conservation projects are just some of the activities you can get involved with. All projects will be led be a member of the Buccleuch Ranger Service, who have many years experience within this field, and a wealth of knowledge that can be passed on.

New for 2019 – we are looking for people who would like to volunteer in the stunning Drumlanrig Gardens. The group will meet once a fortnight undertaking general gardening tasks dependant on the season. You could be planting bulbs, weeding, tidying up the garden beds, or having bonfires all with the wonderful back drop of the Lowther hills in the distance and the fragrant flowers of the gardens around you!
The sessions will be run by Robbie the Head Gardener. Robbie has been managing the Castle gardens for 22 years now. A great chance to meet new friends, learn new skills, improve your health and wellbeing, enjoy the fresh air and get your hands dirty!
