Drumlanrig Castle, Bowhill House and Dalkeith Country Park are all owned by the Duke of Buccleuch. They share a passion for the great outdoors, excellent family days out and for sharing their remarkable history and art collection.

Bowhill House

Bowhill House & Grounds, nestled in the stunning Scottish Borders, is truly a hidden gem. Be bowled over by the picturesque grounds. Discover lochs inspired by Sir Walter Scott, waymarked walks, the romantic ruins of Newark Tower and the kids favourite – the Adventure Playground. You can also delve in to the fascinating history of Bowhill House and the Scotts of Buccleuch on a Guided Tour during August.

Dalkeith Country Park

Dalkeith Country Park is 1,000 acres of history, walks, wellness, shopping, food and adventure, all in a beautiful setting just a few miles from Edinburgh. There is something for everyone. Enjoy family fun in Fort Douglas Adventure Park. Find your thrills in Go Ape. Walk the waymarked trails to take in the beauty of the Park. Or head into Restoration Yard to eat in the award-winning restaurant, shop happy in The Store, or restore yourself in the wellbeing studio.

And now you can stay there too. The campsite offers a beautiful, back-to-basics experience. Located next to the woodland of Dalkeith Country Park, on a grassy field by the river. Bliss.

The adventure starts the minute you turn up the tree-lined drive and discover the imposing, but beautiful, view of the Castle. In July and August you can join friendly guides on a Castle Tour and discover the tall tales of the Douglas family

But don’t miss the great outdoors. Explore the large Castle Gardens from Easter to the end of September, the kids will love the Adventure Playground! Wander the way-marked walks and cycle quiet country roads all year round.

And, for adventure lovers, we have just teamed up with Scottish Assault Courses who will be offering a whole host of new activities from adrenaline-fuelled paintball to new craze airsoft.
