NEW Walking Trails
With sections of the woodland still closed, our team has been hard at work creating four new walking routes around the Estate – now open and ready to explore!
Trails now start from the car park beside the Larchwood Cabin (at the entrance to the Playground & Gardens), and offers a mix of familiar favourites and fresh new paths to discover.
Pre-Storm
On Friday, 24 January, Storm Eowyn brought gusts of up to 100mph to exposed areas, triggering a red weather warning that highlighted the storm’s severity.
In preparation for the high winds, Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate made the decision to close all trails and woodlands and strongly advised visitors to avoid entering the Estate that day.
Post-Storm
In the wake of the storm, the Estate has unfortunately suffered significant damage, particularly in our woodland areas.
– The way-marked walks and mountain bike trails in the woodlands remain closed until debris is cleared and the areas are deemed safe for visitors.
– New Walking routes now accessible from the Larchwood Cabin, as of May 2025.
– Additionally, one zip line in the Adventure Playground has been destroyed due to a fallen tree. This is being replaced.
